Nurturing Minds Psychology Inverell is a private practice founded by Registered Psychologist Jodie Sheather providing evidence based psychological treatment.

  • We understand that no two people are the same and tailor our interventions to suit your unique personality and situation.
  • We aim to provide individualised treatment in an open, non-judgmental, and positive environment for clients of all ages.
  • We can help you with various challenges including:

Jodie is a registered psychologist with over 10 years experience working with clients of all ages including children (4 years +) in a variety of settings including school counselling, office-based counselling, and outreach services.

Jodie has special interests in child and adolescent mental health, women’s mental health, grief and loss and trauma. Jodie uses evidence-based practices including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, supportive counselling, sand tray therapy and mindfulness.

We all want to provide the best for our children and it can be difficult to know where to turn when your child is struggling or needs some extra support. I am experienced in working with children and teenagers over 4 years old. I utilise a variety of approaches including incorporating creative and play therapy approaches to ensure your child is comfortable and benefits from their sessions.

Where appropriate I feel it is important when a child is seeing a psychologist that their family are supportive and involved in the process guided by the needs of the child.

Medicare

Medicare

Clients can access services with a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from their GP.

With a Medicare referral you will be eligible for a rebate of $89.65 following full payment of your $170 session fee. Medicare referrals allow 6 sessions with the possibility of a further 4 sessions with a new referral each calendar year.

Please discuss your mental health needs with your doctor and obtain a Mental Health Care Plan before booking an appointment should you wish to access the Medicare rebate.

NDIS

Self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants can access services covered by your NDIS plan funding. Please contact us to make and appointment or discuss your needs.

Telehealth sessions are an option for those who are unable to attend their session in person. Please contact us to discus the best way for you to access our service.

Fees & Referral

 

Consultation fees

Clients can access services without a referral as a full fee-paying client. The full fee is $170 per session and is payable at the time of your appointment.

If you have private health cover you may be able to claim a portion of this cost. Please speak to your insurance provider to determine your eligibility to claim.

Medicare referred fees

Clients can access services with a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from their GP. With a Medicare referral you will be eligible for 6 sessions with a possibility of a further 4 sessions with a new referral per calendar year.

Medicare clients are required to pay the full fee of $170 at the time of their appointment and a Medicare rebate of $93.35 will be processed and rebated into their nominated bank account.

NDIS fees

Self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participant appointment fees will be charged the current NDIS recommended rate as determined in the NDIS pricing arrangements and price limits catalogue 2022-2023.

Letter and report fees

Fees for providing letters and reports will be charged at an hourly rate of $170 or the recommended NDIS rate.

Cancellations

There is currently a high demand for mental health support and cancelling your appointment with adequate notice allows appointments to be offered to others in need. Cancellation fees will apply for sessions cancelled within 24 hours of your appointment time and for missed appointments without notice.

NDIS clients will be charged a cancelation fee for late cancellations within 48 hours of your appointment as per NDIS guidelines.
